Ingredients of Khaskhas Kheer / Poppy seeds Payasam

  1. It’s 1 cup of Poppy seeds.
  2. You need 1 tablespoon of Almonds.
  3. It’s 1 tablespoon of Cashew nuts.
  4. It’s 1 pinch of Saffron strands.
  5. Prepare 1 tablespoon of Raisins.
  6. Prepare of Milk half litre.
  7. Prepare 1 cup of Sugar.
  8. It’s 1 pinch of Cardamom powder.

The recipe for this payasam is very. Some soak poppy seeds while few roast them. But i feel roasting khus khus brings out maximum flavour from it and the aroma luv it as a drink with mild sweetness. Whichever way, i'm sure you will love and dozz off with this addictive payasam.

Khaskhas Kheer / Poppy seeds Payasam step by step

  1. Wash poppy seeds and soak in milk for half an hour.
  2. Remove excess milk from poppy seeds..
  3. Add half of almonds and cashew nuts to soaked poppy seeds and blend in to a fine paste.
  4. Heat ghee in a heavy bottom pan and add ready paste.
  5. Sauté on low heat till ghee separates.
  6. Now add milk, sugar and saffron strands.. let it cook on low heat..till it's starts thickening.
  7. Add remaining dry fruits, cardamom powder and raisins.
  8. Garnish as you like and serve hot or cold it tastes equally delicious.
